Introduction
One of the many organizations that One Bread Foundation, Inc. Supports is A New Day for Children. This organization was founded in 2009 by Jon Blankmeyer to help target the problem of child sex trafficking in the United States. Blankmeyer worked tirelessly to create a residential and educational safe haven for children seeking a way out of this exploitation.
Jon and his wife Elaine visited a remote site in California to explore placement options for girls, which let to a partnership with another ministry called Together Freedom, a residential program that cares for kids who have been trafficked. They have expanded their partnerships to create an array of services to fit the individual needs of girls. They now partner with programs in California, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, and Texas— One Bread Foundation, Inc. Included!
What They Do
Since 2009, New Day for Children has provided hope and healing for children ages 10-18 impacted by sex trafficking. They accomplish this by providing financial support for a safe and secure living environment, tuition for school, therapy, medical, dental, and vision care, and other essential needs. The children are enrolled in fully accredited schools with their curriculum adapted to their individual academic level and life goals. The support that each child receive is tailored to their individual needs.
New Day for Children, alongside collaborating organizations, serves children from a wide variety of backgrounds and life experiences. Many of the children celebrate reaching goals, both academic and personal, such as high school graduation, or entering college, the workplace, or life skills development programs. There is high demand for the support that New Day provides, as families of young trafficking victims are often left to fend for themselves. This is why One Bread Foundation, Inc.’s support of the organization is so vital— with the help of our supporters, we provide lifesaving care and rehabilitation to hundreds of children.
New Day for Children’s Impact
Since 2009, New Day for Children has supported and cared for over 100 American children recovering from sex trafficking. This is due to the support from service providers, faith communities, businesses, civic groups, law enforcement, community leaders and individuals who have volunteered, advocated, and given to the organization. One Foundation, Inc.’s investment in New Day for Children has helped them reach that goal, and we are honored to be part of their journey in rehabilitating and supporting these children!
